Nyla is becoming an explosion of new words. I would like to remember some of her first words and how she says them so decided to share a few of them here.
Blanky has changed from
kanky to
geegee. I don't know why but she is strongly sticking to that version of the word.
Nyla is still
Nah-nah or
Nah-la.
Momo =
Elmo
Booboo =
peekaboo
Bee =
bird - This one is funny to me because I think she just can't get something closer to the word bird out. She has shown me multiple times that she knows the difference between a bird and a bee.
Ball used to be ball but now it's always
bu-ball.
Book is
bu (like book without the k).
Meebee =
Millie (a girl at daycare)
Daa =
Dash (Millie's brother)
I know she says
Barrett too, but I haven't heard that one for myself.
One of the newest words in the last few days is
meow, mow or
ow for
meow. It's one of my favorites because it really sounds like a cute little kitten the way she says it.
She correctly says
woof, woof (like a dog),
baaa (like a sheep),
hi, bye, night night and kitty.
One other animal sound she makes that I finally figured out what she is meaning to say is
oink, oink. She says
gu-gu-gu (like you're making the g sound). At first I thought she was saying the beginning of
gobble, gobble, but she's very clear about that one when she sees a turkey.
She finally last night attempted to say
grandma and
grandpa! I am going to really start working on that one now. I put pictures in an album and several times she pointed and said
maa-mah for grandma and for sure one time she said grandpa but I didn't quite catch how she said it. I think it had a b in it instead of an m (like
baa-bah but I'm not sure).
She no longer says
please or
thank you at all, only
mah-mah-mah-mah for more!
Sort of on another subject...
One of the funnest things right now is when Nyla helps me unload the dishwasher. She makes one of my most dreaded jobs more enjoyable. She knows where everything goes, although she can only reach certain things. Her job is the silverware, tupperware and cooking utensils. If she gets done with that then she starts pulling other things out, handing them to me and pointing to the cabinet they go in.
This morning she demonstrated that she knows the difference between a napkin and a kleenex. She took the napkin and dabbed her mouth and face with it. Then she immediately grabbed the kleenex and started trying to blow her nose in it.
I feel like she's a smart cookie, but what do I have to compare to? Not that comparing is a good thing anyway. I would hope that everyone feels that their little one is just wonderful (no matter what they do or don't do)!
